Physical properties of Inconel 617 Wire

The Inconel 617 wire is a firm and high potential alloy wire constituted of nickel, chromium, cobalt and molybdenum. The excellent combination of high temperature force and resistance to oxidation makes this alloy strong in the variety of corrosive media. The wire is ready to be welded by the various traditional methods.

Nickel metal is present in high content as well as adequate chromium add the resistance properties in the metal such that the inconel 617 wire resists the reduction and oxidation environments. The presence of aluminum and chromium enhances the resistance property of alloy and enables it resist the oxidation in the elevated temperature environments. In addition of this, cobalt and molybdenum offer the strength.

The superior blend of large force and resistance to oxidation at high temperatures up to 1800oF or 980oC enable the inconel 617 wire using in the production of combustion cans, ducting and other components of spacecrafts and gas turbines. Due to high resistance of alloy to elevated temperature environments, it is employed for catalyst grid maintenance while preparing the nitric acid for heat processing containers and the reduction yachts in the filtration of molybdenum.

The inconel 617 wire is comprised of superior features for using in the power production houses that use fossil fuels and nuclear reactors. The properties of this alloy wire are denoted in the SI system. The melting point and other physical properties are shown in the below table.

The variance in the thermal conductivity and specific heat are measured at different temperatures. the thermal expansion of this alloy is lesser as compare to austenitic alloy and reduced stress from different expansions when the inconel 617 wire is paired with the carbon containing steel or low class steel.
