Annealing and Aging of Inconel 718

Annealing and aging of Inconel 718 wire at temperature of 1700oF to 1850oF is done in order to enhance the cracking life and ductility of alloy. Higher temperature tensile and yield strengths are also related with the annealing and aging processes. Moreover the production of fine grained layer increases the wire's fatigue potential.

The annealed and aged alloy meets the following criteria:

Annealing and aging at 1900o to 1950oF refers to the processing in the tensile oriented operations since it offers the suitable ductility while the heavy loads are applied, impact potential and tensile strength at reduced temperature. This processing offers more fragility in the stress cracking. The precipitation hardening enables the alloy to meet the specific criteria as mentioned below:

The specific metals prepare the inconel 718 Wire for using in the oil field operations. The wire is prepared following the NACE specification MR0175 standard that needs the annealed and aged solution of inconel to obtain the widest toughness of 40 rockwell value.The solution is primarily heat processed solution at temperature of 1850 oF to 1900 oF and the aging is done at temperature up to 1450 oF for time period of 6 to 8 hours and then air cooled.
