The specific strip grade is chosen as per the industrial requirements for the certain applications. The 899 series offers completely thicker, and highly pure nickel metal strip with least level of surface oxides and a clean tiny structure that is quite easier to produce, weld, solder and plate as compare to other products. The wrought powdered metal with high purity has become the prime choice of the corporate sector due to high conductivity and lesser resistivity to the current.

Following the standards the nickel strip is made with the combination of various metals to produce the succeeding alloys. Popular nickel alloy strips are Nickel-iron strip, Nickel, cobalt and iron strip, cobalt powder metal strip and others.

The nickel iron metal strips are categorized for their distinct properties like less expandable alloy, equivalent expansion alloy and large expansion alloy.These alloys are 936 Alloy, 942 Alloy, 946 Alloy, 948 Alloy and 952 Alloy.

The936 Alloy contains 36 % of Nickel and it has nominal thermal expansion at temperature ranges up to 400 degree F. The 942 Alloy contains 41 % of Nickel and it is made to use with Hard or Soft Glasses. The 946 Alloy consists of 46 % of Nickel is preferably used in the form of terminal bands for vitreous enameled resistors. The 948 Alloy consists of 47.5 % Nickel and it is highly used in electronic operations. The 952 Alloy constitutes of 50.5 % of Nickel and is appropriately suited for being used in sealing uses with novel special soft glasses. The thermal Expansion is stable up to temperatures of 565 degree C.

The nickel strip alloys showing an equivalent expansion nature are widely used for hermetically bonded glass – to – metal seals due to their stable thermal expansion and magnetic properties.

The lower value of gas content of in the nickel strip highly reduces the chances of out-gassing. The constrained chemical composition ensures superior glass-to-metal seals. Since the glass "wets" first and then cools down, it becomes crucial that the glass and metal obtain equivalent CTE s. The variation in thermal expansion properties can tend to production of stresses between the metal alloy and glass and ultimately splitting of the glass or offers the glass with negligible seal.

The least expandable alloys such as Alloy 36 and Alloy 42 are primarily used when the expansion because of variation in the temperature is required to keep at the nominal value similar to its structural components and critical devices where the minimization of crucial parts has become highly essential.

High Expansion Nickel mesh Alloys are almost uniquely operated in thermostat bi – metal purposes.
